About Skye

A Great quote....

“Fire can warm or consume, water can quench or drown, wind can caress or cut. And so it is with human relationships: we can both create and destroy, nurture and terrorise, traumatise and heal each other.”
Bruce Perry

My story

I am a registered social worker and provisional play therapist who has over a decade of experience working in diverse settings across the community services sector. I have practiced in Child and Family counselling, Domestic violence, Mental health, and Drug and Alcohol roles.

My professional focus is to address the effects of childhood trauma and work alongside individuals to lessen the life-long harmful impacts for them, their families, and communities.

Apart from my degrees and professional training, there are other qualities and experiences I bring into the playroom. I have always been curious about the human experience, which led me to study psychology in my first degree. It also led me to travel in cultures vastly different to our own, to countries such as Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Mauritania, and Sri Lanka.

But by far the biggest journey I have undertaken so far is becoming a parent to my two boys, aged 9 and 5.  It is through these relationships that I continue to develop patience, compassion, and acknowledge our capacity for growth and healing through our connection to each other.
