Makes teaching 'Body Safety' easy...

As a play therapist working specifically with children under 8 years, the topic of 'body safety' and 'consent' is always present. However finding a simple and easy to read book about this topic is not always as easy. But thanks to Michelle Derrig, an Australian mum and author, there is now.
"Only for me" is one of the best books I have read for children around child safety. And I read A LOT! of children's books.
It's fun, rhyming story works wonders for teaching this really important message to children. The images are colourful, simple, engaging and not overwhelming like some books can be. Often books on this topic can be confronting, intimidating or just too wordy. In"Only for me' Michelle has managed to get the recipe just right. I found the images were great and the story was playful and just matter of fact, without creating any anxiety of uncomfortable feelings.
Wether the child reading the story has experienced trauma or not, the story offers both a gentle introduction to the topic and or opportunity to talk about the topic in a way that is inviting and provides a sense of 'felt safety'.
Another great thing about this book is that all proceeds go to treating victims and preventing child abuse. Doesn't get any better than that.!
